Surface Transportation Board Gives Firm Proposing Chicago Rail By-pass More Time to Develop Routes

The Surface Transportation Board, yesterday, granted Great Lakes Basin Transportation Inc., an extension until Sept. 20 to submit alternative routes for a proposed 278-mile rail by-pass of the Chicago hub.

The by-pass would stretch from Indiana through Illinois to Wisconsin. It is designed to allow trains by-pass Chicago rail hub congestion.
