Petroleum Rail Shipments Continue Slump in August: AAR

Petroleum and petroleum product rail shipments sagged in the last week of August, the Association of American Railroads (AAR) reported today in its weekly review of rail traffic.

U.S. shipments, which include crude oil, refined products and gas liquids, stood at 10,076 cars in the week ending Aug. 27. That was down 27.5% from the same week a year prior. Through the first 34 weeks of the year, total rail shipments at 379,047 cars was down 22.2% from the same period a year prior.
