Iowa Crude Oil Train Derailment Could Be Linked to Heavy Rains

Cleanup of 230,000 gallons of spilled crude oil continues at the site of a 32-car derailment on the BNSF Railway near Doon, Iowa, the railroad said today.

The train derailed on June 22. The spill was contained to an area bounded by the BNSF tracks, Garfield Avenue and 270th Street. Emergency responders are using skimmers to recover oil at the spill site,a statement from the railroad said.
