Canadian Pacific said last night that it was shutting down all of its Canadian operations and was also issuing a force majeure for shipments within, to and from Canada.
Train and engine workers, represented by Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) went on strike against the railroad starting at 10 pm EDT on Tuesday, May 29. The union represents more than 3,000 locomotive engineers, conductors and yard personnel in Canada.
Last week, union members voted to reject a final labor offer from the railroad. On Saturday, the union submitted a 72-hour intent to strike notice.
