Canada Industrial Relations Board Sets Date for CP Rail Union Vote

The Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) said on Tuesday that voting on CP Rail’s final proposals – for both the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference – Train & Engine (TCRC) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) – will begin on Monday, May 14 at 9 am Eastern and close Wednesday, May 23 at noon Eastern.

Should union members vote to accept the railroad's final offer, that will avert a planned strike by both unions. If workers reject the offer, their unions will need to provide a minimum of 72-hours notice before any work stoppage -- including a strike or potential company lockout -- could occur.
