After a year in which railroad operating performance metrics slumped and shipper complaints rose, all major railroads operating in the U.S. are being looked at by the Surface Transportation Board (STB).
After Energy Transport Insider published Friday, the U.S. economic rail regulator sent letters to the CEOs of the seven Class 1 carriers operating in the U.S., saying that following shipper complaints about the railroads’ dismal performance in 2017 and early 2018 the regulator is ordering them to provide an accounting of and outlook for their operations.
