Short-term tank rail car sublease rates were down marginally in the latest week, but for the most part, the market held steady amid quiet conditions.
Many LPG industry participants were on the road last week attending an industry conference where they turned their attention to negotiating their supply contracts for the coming year. In the LPG transport industry, the contract year runs from April 1 to March 31.
One individual who works for a broker firm said that while “pressure cars for summer tend to be cheaper than winter cars” supply in the tank rail car sublease market is “a little tighter” than previous years, and that was serving to “keep rates up.”
