GP Tank Car Sublease Levels Up Amid Increased Crude-by-Rail Activity, LPG Tank Car Leases Up, Too

Rail tank car sublease rates climbed higher amid continued strong demand for rail tank cars to haul Canadian crude into the U.S. as industry participants reacted to a continued significant price differential between Canadian and U.S. crude oil. Word of a potential new natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline in the works seemed to have little impact on the market.
“We are in a rising market. Everything is going up by the day. Things are flying off the shelves and, in fact, the shelves are flying off the shelves,” joked one individual at a broker firm.
