CP Rail Promises Service Improvements Following a Tough Winter

It's been a tough winter at the Canadian Pacific and the railroad is promising customers to improve service. This will include increasing its locomotive fleet, pre-positioning personnel, hire more field staff and working with customers to manage car flows.

In a notice sent to customers (and seen by Energy Transport Insider), the railroad noted that the weather-related delays were factors "not within our control."

The railroad pointed out that from Dec. 25, 2017 to Jan. 7, 2018 was the coldest and "most extensive low temperature event" across 90% of the company's network since 1993-1994. Since that time, cold weather has persisted. The railroad has shortened trains. As a result conges...
