KCSM, Avant Energy and Savage to Start Construction on Mexico Petroleum-by-Rail Terminals by Q3 2018

Kansas City Southern’s (KCS) Mexico subsidiary Kansas City Southern de Mexico (KCSM) railroad, energy infrastructure company Avant Energy, and U.S. logistics group Savage Companies surprised some this week when the parties announced they will together build a network of terminals to supply refined petroleum products from the Port of Altamira, Tamaulipasto to the Bajio region of North-Central Mexico. The surprise was that the energy and transport industry players would make the commitment ahead of the Mexican presidential election on July 1, an election which many believe could result in a rollback of energy reform.
