LPG Tank Car Sublease Levels Hold Strong Despite Changes with Crude, ME2

One-year LPG tank car sublease rates edged higher in the latest week and shorter-term car leases held steady, in the face of news that U.S. crude oil prices slipped and Sunoco Pipeline LLP is resuming construction of its Mariner East 2 (ME2) natural gas liquids (NGL) pipeline.

We “have not seen any decline at all“ in tank car demand or crude moves, said one broker.

Last week, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (Pa. DEP) announced it had lifted its order suspending DEP-permitted construction operations on Sunoco Pipeline LLP’s ME2 NGL pipeline.

The pipeline will have the capacity to move 275,000 b/d of purity NGLs from the Marcellus and Utica shale region...
