Hurricane Matthew has disrupted rail deliveries of propane to the Carolinas and Georgia, say sources contacted by Energy Transport Insider. Some service has been restored by the CSX and Norfolk Southern railroads. Other tracks will be operating next week and in other cases it is unknown when rail service will resume.
Meanwhile some dealers needing product have been sourcing propane from the Dixie Pipeline, which has terminals in Cheraw, Bethune and Lexington, SC and Apex, NC. So far, most of propane moving in the area is related to tank filling ahead of the winter and to meet some agricultural demand.
