Near-Term LPG Tank Car Sublease Rates Inch Higher amid Chilly End to Year

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank car sublease rates trended slightly higher in near-term contracts in the latest week as plummeting temps in some areas boosted the need for propane to be transported for heating purposes.

Weather forecasters warned people to be careful to keep warm and avoid hypothermia and frostbite from an arctic blast that has been gripping a large swath of the U.S. from the Midwest to the Northeast.

One individual at a midstream company said rail cars were getting harder to come by for transport of product, so many customers were shifting to trucks. “They're going through our inventory,” he said.
