Plans to use salt caverns in upstate New York to store liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) inched closer to reality this week as an administrative law judge struck down a challenge to Crestwood LLC’s proposal. Crestwood owns the Finger Lakes, New York caverns, once held by U.S. Salt LLC. Crestwood applied in 2009 to operate a storage facility to hold 2.1 million bbl of propane and butane.
