AltaGas Proposes New Natural Gas Processing, Rail Terminal and NGL Plants to Serve Export Terminal

AltaGas Ltd. said Tuesday that it signed a non-binding letter of intent with an unnamed Montney gas producer to construct a 120 Mmcf/deep-cut natural gas processing facility and natural gas liquids (NGL) separation train capable of producing 10,000 b/d of NGL. A new rail terminal will be built to handle the NGLs.

A company release said the facilities will be located in the Montney, separate from Altagas’ current operations and will cost $180 million to build. The Canadian National Railway will serve the rail terminal and transport propane to AltaGas' Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal. The project is expected to be supported by long-term “take or pay” contracts.
